[ Showcase 3: Project: Residence Rio Del Mark ]

Perched on the cliffs overlooking Monterey Bay is the Residence Rio Del Mark, so named by the client. The floorplan of the residence is open. There are no visible doors. Each room opens to the other and all have sweeping views of the Monterey Bay including, Capitola and Santa Cruz. The open design and the desire to have a surround system in each room that can have the same movie playing in Digital surround or have something different in each room placed some unusual challenges on our design team.

The finished project consists of three different surround systems, one in the Master Bedroom, one in the Great Room and one in the Guest Bedroom/Office. Each room has a Marantz Plasma and a speaker system that is integrated into the room in such a way that the presentation is seamless with the décor. Even the subwoofers are disguised to be end tables. The homage to the Audio Video system is the Middle Atlantic component rack in the Great Room. The high tech, high style looks are maintained by using Crestron controllers. Three of these controllers (one each in MBR, Great Room, Guest/Office) can operate /control any source from any room. The Crestrons control Lighting and Shades as well as the audio in the
Spa, on the deck and in the garage.
